Full Moon in Aquarius 2024

On August 19th, 2024, the Full Moon will be illuminated at 27 degrees of Aquarius. This celestial event, infused with the dynamic elements of fire and air, invites us to embrace our unique selves and make transformative changes in our lives. A Full Moon, known for its heightened energy, occurs when the Sun is directly opposed to the Moon, fully illuminating the moon's radiant energy within the zodiac sign it occupies. This alignment may cause emotions to amplify, but it also brings hidden subconscious thoughts and patterns to our conscious awareness, offering a powerful opportunity for emotional healing and growth.

The Sun in Leo opposes the Moon in Aquarius, and both are in square aspects to Uranus in Taurus. This t-square aspect with Uranus, the ruler of Aquarius, creates a dynamic tension that can lead to sudden changes and breakthroughs. The Sun in Leo emphasizes self-expression and creativity, while the Moon in Aquarius highlights individuality and innovation. Uranus in Taurus brings a disruptive energy to the mix, challenging us to break free from old patterns and embrace new ways of thinking and being. This transit is here to push us outside of our comfort zones.

Another important aspect to consider is the yod to the Sun. Pluto retrograde in Aquarius is in sextile to Neptune retrograde in Pisces, both forming a yod to the Sun. This is the finger of fate/God and creates a power focus point. With the Pluto and Neptune sextile, deep introspection is encouraged, especially relating to our higher belief systems and values and how they relate to those of the collective. This introspection is then cast upon our personal consciousness, the Sun, emphasizing the need to transcend the lines of division that have been created to keep us dependent upon a false societal reality.

Venus in Virgo opposes Saturn retrograde in Pisces and creates a square aspect to Jupiter in Gemini, another powerful t-square! This aspect creates tension between our desires for love, justice, and harmony (Venus) and the need for discipline and responsibility (Saturn). With Jupiter in the mix, there are opportunities for growth and maturity by leaning into our curiosity to explore other aspects of ourselves that may have been kept hidden. Keeping an open mind and considering these new opportunities can help us gain new perspectives and expand our understanding, leading to significant growth in our relationships and personal value systems.

This Full Moon invites us to confront the aspects of ourselves that are not genuine and do not align with our higher purpose. From a young age, we are conditioned to become valuable members of society. Still, we are rarely taught how to find value within ourselves by following our true passions and nurturing that potential. It’s time to let go of the identity that was created for you - your self-worth and values determine your destiny.

As we transition from the Age of Pisces into the Age of Aquarius, old structures, beliefs, and values are becoming obsolete. These outdated systems must collapse for us to move into this new era successfully. We no longer prioritize societal definitions of success, traditional education systems, or political structures. This is our collective Tower Card moment, a period of profound transformation that we will continue to experience over the coming years. Although we can not individually make this shift for the collective, we can begin to make this shift within ourselves. Start by considering these questions:

  • What reoccurring patterns in my life have limited my potential?

  • What emotions about these patterns are ready to be released?

  • What commitments or responsibilities can be reduced or eliminated to make space for my well-being?

  • What measurable changes can I integrate to hold myself accountable for my growth and expansion?

I once came across a quote, whose author remains unknown, that profoundly resonated with me: “Life doesn’t have a purpose. You have a purpose, and you bring it to life.” This sentiment struck a chord because I’ve always questioned the status quo. Growing up, I challenged my family’s religious beliefs, the conventional views on relationships and marriage, the academic system, and even the healthcare industry. I’ve consistently felt at odds with society's traditional values and structures. Most importantly, I’ve questioned how our society functions—or fails to function. As we approach this Full Moon, I believe it offers us a unique chance to reflect and question these societal norms once again, and specifically identify how they have shaped our own beliefs and values. This is our starting point - release the old, identify the authentic, and expand our spirit.
